Difference between FITC-PEG-Retinoic and FITC-PEG-OPSS MW:3400 Fluorescent labeling

FITC-PEG-Retinoic and FITC-PEG-OPSS are fluorescently labeled poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) compounds, which have a wealth of applications in biochemistry and biomedicine. However, the differences in their functionalized end groups (Retinoic and OPSS) lead to the differences in their applications.

1. FITC-PEG-Retinoic: Retinoic refers to retinoic acid, a biologically active molecule that is important in the regulation of many biological processes, such as cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis. Therefore, FITC-PEG-Retinoic is mainly used in studies related to retinoic acid receptors. For example, it can be used to track and study the distribution and metabolism of retinoic acid in vivo, or be used to study the effects of retinoic acid on cellular functions.

2. FITC-PEG-OPSS: OPSS refers to orthosulfate group, a chemical group that can react with thiol groups (-SH). Therefore, FITC-PEG-OPSS is mainly used to modify biomolecules containing thiol groups, such as proteins and peptides. For example, researchers can use FITC-PEG-OPSS to label proteins containing thiol groups for detection and tracking in fluorescence microscopy or flow cytometry.

Thus, although both FITC-PEG-Retinoic and FITC-PEG-OPSS are fluorescently labeled PEG compounds, they have distinctly different applications due to the differences in their functionalized end groups.FITC-PEG-Retinoic is mainly used in studies related to retinoic acid, whereas FITC-PEG-OPSS is mainly used to labeling and studying biomolecules containing thiol groups.
