Boc-NH-PEG-SH can be used to modify proteins, peptides, and other materials with active groups. Sulfhydryl (- SH) can be used to modify proteins, peptides, and other materials or small molecules. Maleimide imide and mercapto easily form stable thioether bond at PH6.5-7.5. Mercaptan groups have high affinity for gold surface and are widely used to modify gold nanoparticles or gold films. BOC (- BOC) can protect amino groups and also facilitate the removal of protection. PEG modification can improve solubility and stability, and reduce the immunogenicity of proteins and peptides. It can also inhibit the non-specific binding of charged molecules on the modified surface.
